Unconditional self-love is…
loving ourselves no matter the condition of our lives, or our health or our physical appearances. So that means we treat those conditions of our lives with compassion, kindness, patience, encouragement and support instead of being judgmental, critical, impatient, negative or giving up on ourselves.
Unconditional self-love is…
about paying attention to what we need in all areas of our lives instead of avoiding, neglecting, ignoring or abandoning those needs. So that means to tune-in to what we need instead of always distracting ourselves by doing something else. We need to tune into the clues that our emotions and our bodies are trying to give to us. They are trying to let us know where there is a problem through the physical signals of pain, exhaustion, or by a disturbing emotion such as anger, grief, frustration, guilt or shame. These are all signals to look closer instead of turning away in order to address what still needs healing in our lives.
Unconditional self-love is…
about the relationship that we have with ourselves and that relationship is expressed by how we treat ourselves, speak to ourselves and see ourselves. So it’s about speaking to ourselves with kindness and encouragement. It’s about treating ourselves fairly and respectfully. And it’s about seeing ourselves and our futures with confidence and reassurance.
Unconditional self-love is…
something that takes time and effort. It’s a gradual and ongoing process. It’s about going inward and getting to know ourselves better. It’s about finding peace within ourselves and forgiving our mistakes. It’s about believing in ourselves. It’s about living our healthiest lives and realizing our greatest potential.
Unconditional Self-love is…
the starting point. It’s the motivation to make the healthiest personal choices that we are able to make for our lives. And no two people will do it in the exact same way.
Note: This blog post was inspired by my book, Unconditional Self-love:What it is, Why it’s important, and How to nurture it in your life.
